In 2020, the pandemic affected our local businesses, families, and the entire community. No one was prepared for it. With 30 plus years of agriculture experience, The Loera Family had an idea to grow and sell pumpkins to raise money for children in the community. With the help of many community members, they were able to connect with multiple nonprofits that shared that mission.
In Fall 2020, the first Great Pumpkinfest raised over $34,000 for Bite2Go. Bite2Go provides weekend food supplies to children in need during the school year. The money raised with The Great Pumpkinfest helped feed more than 200 kids for four entire school years!
Overtaken with joy, the Loera family set new goals. As the goals got bigger, the vision grew stronger, and so did the need to help people. As word spread through the community and with a second Fall season ahead. The Loera family didn’t slow down on planting, growing, and bringing pumpkins from the farm to the city for a second year. In Fall 2021 the Great Pumpkinfest raised over $42,000 and again in Fall 2022 the Great Pumpkinfest raised over $46,000!
Now in 2023, the vision has continued to expand on many levels. With the goal of bringing over 10,000 pumpkins from the farm to the city! And to further grow the Loera family’s community giving and engagement goals, the Love Your Neighbor Foundation was established by Joshua Loera in 2022. Stay tuned as the 3rd Annual Great Pumpkinfest approaches, but watch and join the journey of the much-needed impactful giving through the partnership with the LYN Foundation.
Love Your Neighbor Foundation is dedicated to uplifting and supporting our community neighbors in their time of need. LYN serves through helping provide basic resource needs such as meals, opportunity, and supports other local non-profits missions.
